Inhalió’s founder and digital experience expert, Keith Kelsen, had a vision to enhance the visual digital experience by engaging all the senses. Working with a hand picked team, he set out to revolutionize an industry. First, by creating visual and audio experiences and now, he and his team have introduced the sense of smell to digital. Of the five senses, smell is where emotions are born and those memories are stored. It’s a powerful sense, rivaling all others. This new sensory platform, Inhalió, creates a mood, just like music or lighting, now using the dispersion of scent on demand.
HOW WE GOT STARTED
Inhalió was founded on the belief that we can create new worlds of scent experience that can improve lives. Research by the Sense of Smell Institute indicates that people's scent recall is an astounding 65% over the course of a year. Inhalió explores how to apply that knowledge for commercial and personal applications. It all started in 2012, when, working with our partners at Intel® and HP®, we created a new world of experience for McCormick.
5th Screen Digital, Inc., the company behind the brand Inhalio, was commissioned to design, develop and deploy the consumer digital engagements of the McCormick flagship store. We created a very successful experience named, GUESS THAT SPICE, a sensory engagement game that added scent content. The shopper is challenged to guess the name of four spices based on their aroma, triggering the positive emotions of playtime and mastery. Now our products are now designed for both business and consumer use as well.
